KIVA

kiva.jpgMicro loans. Cool concept!!

YOU loan as little as $25 towards a larger loan for an entrepreneur in the developing world.

The ENTREPRENEUR pays the loan back, including your part, over time (usually 12 months or so).

You’ve helped someone lift THEMSELVES out of poverty, and you have your money back to do it all over again.

Like I said…COOL!!!

Go check it out!

  1. I think this is so cool. I have been trying to find this website for a couple of weeks now, and havent had much luck. Thanks!

  2. I first heard about Kiva while watching (don’t tell anyone) Oprah. It does sound like an interesting idea. I am going to be looking into it more carefully. Incidentally, I am ATTEMPTING to work in Honduras starting small franchises that sell electricity at the village level. It’s similar to the microloan concept, but they call them microfranchises.

  3. Brian – I’ve read about what you’ve been up to over on your blog. Sounds very interesting!! Love how you’re using you engineering skills, student labor and alternative energy knowledge (poop power – too cool!!) to help people in the developing world.

I’d like to be apart of that sometime.

  4. Thanks for reading my posts about alternative energy projects in the developing world. It’s challenging work, but I think it’s what God has called me to do, and so I resonate with it like a violin string. I will keep posting about it, thanks, in part, to your encouragement.
